OVERVIEW
This position is located in the Server Support Branch, Information Resource Management Division, Business and Strategic Planning Office, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. . The purpose of this position is to serve command customers on issued related to Information Technology (IT) services and to act as liaison between command customers and any contracted IT provider in matters pertaining to the planning and delivery of customer support IT services.
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP). You must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Serve command customers for Information Technology (IT) issues and act as liaison between command customers and contracted IT provider in matters pertaining to the planning and delivery of server systems administration and IT services.
Perform and develop system administration management program plans, policies and standards.
Communicate complex technical requirements to nontechnical personnel and prepare and present briefings to senior management officials on complex or controversial issues.
Develop and monitor metrics for evaluating the accomplishment of system administration goals and objectives.
Implement and manage information assurance vulnerability assessments, computer task orders, sustain patch management and risk assessments.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to theGS-09grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Assisting in the installing and maintaining application software, control current versions and future releases of applications software and document physical configuration.
Establishing and maintaining user accounts and passwords; manage established accounts, rights and access to systems and equipment.
Developing Information Assurance Security documentation to obtain system accreditations and authority to operate.
Assisting with managing and coordinating Windows based systems, workstations and network attached storage and storage area networks storage systems. AND
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11 : Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: _ _Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

Developing guidance and procedures for implementation of applications including planning and scheduling installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and application software.
Performing Windows system management (performance monitoring and tuning, security auditing and analysis, system log auditing and system failure analysis).
Developing, implementing and interpreting metrics for the evaluation of IT effectiveness and efficiency. __
_Managing and coordinating UNIX based systems, workstations, mini-computers, and network-attached storage (NAS)/storage area networks (SAN) storage systems_

_REQUIREMENTS:_
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

Physical Demands:
Work may require periods of standing and walking in the office and industrial spaces.
Work require some bending, stooping, climbing, lifting (less than 50 pounds) and carrying items may be required.
The incumbent may be required to work long hours, nights and weekends (overtime) occasionally and is subject to call back at odd hours (late night such as 1 or 2 AM).
Work Environment:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
