Job Description
Our Client is searching for experienced cabling technicians to install various types of cable plant including twisted pair, coaxial, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, single and multi-mode fiber optical cable. Installation includes placement, termination, grounding and bonding, testing, labeling and documentation. An important criterion for this position is the ability to plan and quickly install EMT conduit and cable tray systems. Experience with both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) communications cabling is critical.

Candidate will install, terminate, test, label, and document horizontal, backbone & other cables (CAT-6, Fiber). Candidate will install cable pathway systems (cable tray, cable racks, and conduits). Installations will include dressing and routing of cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets. All work will be accomplished in accordance with ANSI/EIA/TIA standards and national electrical code as well as national and state environmental, health and safety policy.

For OSP cabling installations, Candidate will be required to enter underground power/communications manholes and vaults, perform rod and rope survey of ductbank (conduit) systems, and install OSP fiber. Candidate must also terminate, label, and test fiber at building point of entry, must dress and label installed fiber in manholes, and redline drawings to thoroughly document installed cabling.

Candidate will be required to exert heavy physical effort at times including carrying of loads up and down stairs and ladders. Candidate must be able to lift up to 100Lbs. This job will require working from heights such as lifts, ladders, scaffolding and rooftops. Working environment may include exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical and other hazards typical to a cable plant installation.

Candidate must have 4 or more years of experience in installation of cabling & electronic devices associated with telecommunications and computer networking systems. Candidate must have experience in planning and installing EMT conduit.

Education, Certification and Other Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
BICSI Certification desired
OSHA manlift training certification
OSHA confined space entry certification
OSHA high voltage awareness training
DoD Secret Security Clearance
Background Check
Drug Screening

Normal work schedule is 0700-1600 Monday - Friday, but work schedule may shift to outside of normal business hours as required for certain cabling tasks.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
