This position is located in the Inside Machine/Tool Maintenance Shop, Mechanical/Electrical Resource Group, Production Resources Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, ME.
This position is being filled under the Worker Skills Progression Program (WSPP). Initial appointment is to Tools & Parts Attendant, WG-6904-05; intermediate level is Tools & Parts Attendant, WG-6904-06; and journeyman level is Toolroom Mechanic, WG-4840-08.
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Assisting Toolroom Mechanics by performing the less skilled duties of the trade, keeping journeyman supplied with tools and work materials and engaging in joint operations with journeyman as instructed.
Performing simple elements of the trade alone including use of journeyman tools and machines on limited tasks.
Assisting higher graded Tool and Parts Attendants in checking, binning, and racking incoming supplies.

Using common hand tools such as screw drivers and wrenches.
Assembling and disassembling tools.
Assisting with various tools procedures such as: binning, racking, issuing, and receiving tools.
Assisting with using specialized equipment such as grinders and spray painters.
